It’s the time of the year where we are surrounded by loved ones for the holidays.
Except you, unfortunately you’re left with the decision choosing between family and friends or working. 😒.
I’m just here to remind you to ALWAYS choose your loved ones here’s why...
Your family is irreplaceable! Sure you may miss that holiday pay but time with your family is priceless (cliche I know, but it’s 100% true). If you’re worried about missing the pay, plan ahead for it or use PTO. We work 40 plus hours for these companies, we can spare some time to create memories with ones we love. Usually there's tumbleweeds rolling trough the office during holidays anyway. So don’t feel bad for taking time you deserve.
Which leads to the next thing....
Your job doesn’t care about you! So stop being a ride or die for these people! If you died today they’ll post your job before sending condolences to your family. Besides, the same people they expect you to send those ”super important” reports to will have on their “out of office” not worried about you. Most of these companies want to paint the image of caring about you and your well being but only when it‘s beneficial to them. Yes, some may care about you and your career with the company but your well-being? Not so much. You consistently go above and beyond, so don’t feel guilty for choosing not to work during holidays.
Wayment, I’m not saying “f” that job completely...
I’m just saying, spend time...money always comes back around. Yes, as CBGs we are climbing the corporate ladder but we are NOT puppets. (haha no correlation to the Elmo gif) When you say jump, I will NOT ask how high. There‘s a way to succeed in this corporate world and not be a push over. So take those 8, 16 or 24 hours off and you enjoy yourself. Anything else can wait until after you’ve had your morning coffee the day you return. ✨
