Why Do We Pay So Much Tax In The UK?
So I was looking at my payslip and usually, I try to ignore Tax, NI etc, but today for some reason I paid extra attention. My Tax is £425.40, National Insurance is £258 & Student Loan is £135, altogether that’s £818.40 & I don’t even have a pension!!!
Now after I get home, I remember and think to myself “oh yeah it doesn’t stop there”, because then you have to deal with Council Tax which is around £80 per month, Road Tax, split over year comes to around £11 per month (not a lot, but it still adds up), my new total is £909.40, but wait…there’s more! I have to get to work right? Well I have to privilege of using public transport (sarcasm @ privilege) which is dirty, always late, has upteen delays, over crowded and did I mention dirty? Oh yeah I did. And what do I pay for this oh so wonderful service? A whopping £180 per month! This has taken my new total to £1,089.40, which is more than half of my take home pay.
And don’t get me started on the quality of life….I live in a socially repressed area (because that’s what I can afford on my “salary”), with lots of crime, hostility and dirt. I haven’t even mentioned rent, food, and all those other bills have I? Well I don’t want to depress you or myself anymore by listing it in black and white. It will make my sad existence ever sadder.
I have decided to relocate and leave this God forsaken country, as this isn’t living, its merely existing so the government can continue to milk you dry. I’m lucky enough to have a partner who makes all this a little easier on my pocket, but what about the singletons out there?
Its expensive to be single and living in the UK! Anyway that’s enough of my rants, can anybody out there please tell me "Why Do We Pay So Much Tax In The UK?"
